re: storm manhole repair @ 4 Winds, Northbrook.

Basin #1, 24" x 24" pre cast concrete structure in curb/gutter, with gutter grate open lid -  repair price is $980.00).  What I propose to do would be to place new brick, block, concrete, pavement patch, to restore structure.

Most likely cut a  2" and 6" concrete ring(s) into sections, fit into place, add concrete brick and mortar where necessary, add pavement patch bought at store (fill in the hole, street side or structure).

I do not think this is emergency work.  This concrete structure has been it's current state (of decay) for a long time,  This did not happen last month.

Across the street there are adjoining back yards, a flared end structure (?) going through a berm?  Which would indicate a lot of water passes this way.  Which would explain why all the missing debris is missing (washed down the lines).

The connecting storm structure 4 feet away seems ok to me.

Saw cutting the curb, the road way pavement or the parking lot pavement, to do a direct vertical replacement, I do not feel is necessary for this repair. The iron frame and cover are not going any place (during the curb construction, the new concrete stuck to the iron frame and that is where it will remain (as to, this instance, this concrete structure)).

This is a on site 1/2 day repair (should be).

The pavement thickness, on the street side is 12" thick!

The white coating on the inside of a part of the storm structure, was probably the cause of a resident dumping something.

Thank you,

Mike Mars
